What You Need To Hear If You [Really] Want To Improve Your Golf
Phoenix/Scottsdale/Tempe/Arizona Golf Lessons Update: Thursday, May 20, 2010
All the suggestions and tips from other golfers, books, magazines, and U tube videos may not help you improve.
Here is why:
1. In order for a suggestion or golf tip to work – the source offering the suggestion is presuming that your golf fundamentals are correct. You know – grip, aim, alignment, posture, stance, and shaft angle. And, presuming that you already know how to swing your golf club correctly.
2. The suggestion and/or golf tip will not work because you do not know what the solution is for real improvement.
3. You need to know the cause(s) of your error(s) in order to make adjustments and/or changes.
4. You need to KNOW the – WHY when a source is telling you to do something.
Q: What do you want fixed?
Q: What is missing from your golf game?
Q: What are you trying to do to fix your problems.?
Q: Are you willing to put time and effort to improve?
Q: Would you like the solution(s) to your swing errors?

Get Your Putter Checked
Phoenix, Tempe, Scottsdale, Arizona Golf Lessons Update: Monday, May 10, 2010
Putting is a part of the game game that most golfers neglect when it comes to playing with the right putter. What determines the right putter? Well, below the image is a short list:

1. Correct length
2. Correct lie angle
3 Correct loft
4. Correct shape*
5. Correct grip*
6. Correct weight*
For numbers 3, 4, and 5: The shape of putter-head, grip size and texture, and weight of putter falls under the area of preference determined by the player.
For numbers 1, 2, and 3: For best results – you kneed to see a professional flitter to measure your length, lie, and loft angle via a putter loft and lie machine. For length: a static measure of your wrists measured to the floor/ground will be taken.
The benefits of a properly fitted putter are more putts holed. And confidence, which can overflow to other parts of your golf game.
I recently had my Wilson 8802 putter checked for proper loft [4 degrees] and lie angle. The results at Golf Galaxy reveled my putter needed a lie angle adjustment. The cost was only $9.99, and the benefits far outweigh the cost. I can say with confidence, I am putting better because of the lie angle change.
For information on how you can putt better, please call or email me.
Drive for show and putt for dough, right?
USGA Bans U Grooves, So!
Arizona – Phoenix Metro Golf Lessons Update: Monday, May 3, 2010
Since the USGA
banned u-grooves on the PGA Tour
, the ‘Tour’ players are still posting low scores. See below.
Jan. 07 – 10 SBS Championship – Winner – Geoff Ogilvy -22
Jan. 14 – 17 Sony Open in Hawaii – Winner – Ryan Palmer -15
Jan. 20 – 24 Bob Hope Classic – Winner – Bill Haas -30
Jan. 28 – 31 Farmers Insurance Open – Winner – Ben Crane - 13
Feb. 04 – 07 Northern Trust Open – Winner – Steve Stricker -16
Feb. 11 – 14 AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am – Winner – Dustin Johnson -16
Feb. 18 – 21 Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya-Cancun – Winner – Cameron Beckman -15
Feb. 25 – 28 Waste Management Phoenix Open – Winner – Hunter Mayhan -16
March 04 – 07 The Honda Classic – Winner – Camilo Villegas -13
March 11 – 14 Puerto Rico Open presented by Banco Popular – Winner – Derek Lamely -19
March 11 – 14 World Golf Championships-CA Championship – Winner – Ernie Els -18
March 18 – 21 Transitions Championship – Winner – Jim Furyk -13
March 25 – 28 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard – Winner – Ernie Els -11
April 01 – 04 Shell Houston Open – Winner – Anthony Kim -12
April 08 – 11 Masters Tournament - Winner – Phil Mickelson -16
April 15 – 18 Verizon Heritage – Winner – Jim Furyk -13
April 22 – 25 Zurich Classic of New Orleans – Winner – Jason Bohn -18
April 29 – May 02 Quail Hollow Championship – Winner – Rory Mcllroy -15
The best golfers in the world will continue to shoot low scores with u-grooves or without u-grooves. In my opinion: If the USGA is saying that the long drivers on ‘Tour’ will have an advantage because they can spin the ball out of the rough, well so be-it. Why not just make the rough higher, as they do in the US Open?
So, we as non ‘Tour’ pro’s can still play with u-grooves, right? So what! One reason that so many non ‘Tour’ pro’s like about golf is that we play to the same set of rules with regards to equipment and the rules of golf. But now we don’t.
Look, Bobby Jones
played with WOOD shafts. Jack Nicklaus
played with a STEEL shafted driver, right? Do we put an asterisk after Jack’s 18 major golf championships? No. Do we put an asterisk after Tiger Woods
because he played with a GRAPHITE shaft in his driver? No.
Why did the USGA do this? Is the game really too easy for the guys on TV? Did you watch golf on TV this past weekend? Did you see Tiger shoot 79 last Friday? Did you see some high scores? I did. Golf is too easy, USGA?
